Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I and my girlfriend had unprotected sex one to two days back. Is there any pill with no side effects that I can give her to avoid pregnancy?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

It would have been better if you would have mentioned her last menstrual date, so I can predict the possibility of pregnancy. She can take an emergency contraceptive pill. The pill should be consumed within 72 hours of intercourse otherwise it will not affect as expected. The pill is safe to consume. It may cause withdrawal bleeding but that would be completely normal.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them. and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thnaks for your reply.

It is almost 65 hours completed before we had unprotected sex. Is it ok if the time goes up to 80 hours? Should she take only one pill or one strip? And what will be the best time to take that?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The emergency contraceptive pill should be taken within 72 hours for its best results. It is just a single pill that can be taken at any time, better to take after having some food.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

Will she have any side effects? It is the first time she is taking this kind of pill. Does she need rest after taking that?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The pill will not cause any side effects. Rarely, nausea could be there, and in some cases withdrawal bleeding. I suggest she relax.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
