Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 30-year-old unmarried male. I have been facing erection problems for the past ten years. When I was between 19 and 21 years old, I experienced frequent morning erections and night emissions. To reduce my erections, I tried forcefully bending my penis downward. Over time, my erections gradually decreased, and now I no longer experience night emissions or morning erections. Although I do not masturbate frequently, I recently consulted two doctors who conducted different tests and ultrasounds. The results are as follows:

  1. My prolactin level is 19.70 ng/ml.

  2. My testosterone level is 15.00 nmol/L.

  3. The duplex study of my corpus cavernosa showed normal findings in both corpus cavernosal arteries (in a flaccid state).

This duplex study was conducted in a non-erect condition. The doctors informed me that I have no physical issues and suggested that my erectile dysfunction might be related to stress and anxiety. Could you please provide some information on why ED occurs in general?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understood your concern.I suggest you see a local doctor as soon as possible to safely discontinue Sertraline. This medication can potentially have the effect of chemical castration, and there are alternative options available. It is crucial not to stop the medication abruptly on your own, as this can be life-threatening. However, with the guidance of a physician, you can gradually taper off the medication safely. If you are taking Sertraline for depression, Amitriptyline may be a good alternative. Alternatively, if you are using it to manage anxiety, Clonazepam might be helpful. The probable cause for your symptoms is a side effect of Sertraline. No specific investigations are required at this time, and the differential diagnosis encompasses various possibilities. It is essential to seek medical attention and discuss your concerns with a healthcare professional.I hope this helps.

Kind regards.
