Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been masturbating for many years, and recently, I have been doing it daily. Over time, I have noticed that although I can get an erection, it quickly becomes flaccid when I search for another video. When I try to take a photo or video to check size and firmness, it goes flaccid within seconds or minutes. I have observed that when it is hard, it is not as firm as it used to be. My plan is to stop masturbating from today and avoid watching any pornography. Will I recover after a couple of months without any medication?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I can understand your concern about your symptoms,

Masturbation is a normal activity that generally does not cause physical or sexual problems. It serves as a maintenance procedure, ensuring the regular turnover of fresh semen and sperm in the penis. Your current issue might be linked to stress, which can cause temporary sexual weakness. To address this, consider reducing stress through relaxation techniques and regular exercise. Nevertheless, it is essential to rule out any potential physical problems. Conducting blood tests, including sugar PP (postprandial glucose test), TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), and testosterone, can help diagnose any underlying issues. Depending on the test results, appropriate treatment can be determined. If the reports are normal, the issue is likely stress-related, and you can expect to recover with time.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Is it normal to experience a quick loss of erection when changing thoughts for a second? Should an erection typically persist for some time, even if thoughts are diverted?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is normal for the loss of erection to occur when thoughts are diverted, but if it happens within a few seconds, it is considered abnormal and may be linked to stress. To gain a better understanding of the issue, it is recommended to undergo the blood tests suggested earlier. In the meantime, practicing breathing exercises and engaging in a 20 to 30 minute walk daily can be beneficial. If you smoke or take any supplements, discontinuing them may also contribute to improvement.
