Why am I noticing a dark spot after getting hit directly in my eye?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was recently hit directly in my eye, and I suddenly started to notice a dark spot during the daytime. It disappeared after about four hours and is now only noticeable in low light conditions such as moonlight. Should I be worried, or will it go away with time?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptom can be floaters. Blunt trauma to the eye can cause these kinds of symptoms. To be on the safer side, you should visit an ophthalmologist so that retina and vision checkups can be done thoroughly. Also, do cold compression to your eye. That will cause little relaxation of the eye. Thank you and take care.
