Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 56 years old. I do not drink or smoke and am vegetarian. My ultrasound of the abdomen shows hepatomegaly with grade I fatty changes. How can I cure my liver problem without medicine? I have had fatty liver since the age of 25. My recent blood test values are the following.

1. SGOT - 32 U/L.

2. SGPT - 40 U/L.

3. Alkaline Phosphate - 65 IU/L.

4. Total protein - 6.60 gms/dl.

5. Albumin - 3.90 gms/dl.

6. Globulin - 2.70 gms/dl.

7. A:G ratio - 2.70.

8. Total cholesterol -198 mg/dL.

9. Triglycerides - 300 mg/dL.

10. HDL- 36 mg/dL.

11. VLDL - 60 mg/dL.

12. LDL - 102 mg/dL.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Fatty liver is not a dangerous condition. To manage that, lifestyle modification along with regular exercise is needed. I suggest the following.

1. Regular one-hour exercise will be beneficial.

2. Avoid high saturated fatty foods and junk foods.

3. Tablet Udiliv (Ursodeoxycholic Acid) 300 mg daily for a few months.

Your triglyceride levels are high, and if there is no improvement with exercise, then you have to start using antilipidemic medications. You can consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

Thank you.
