How to reduce fever in a 1.4-year-old baby?
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My son is 1.4 years old. His weight is 27.7 pounds. He has been suffering from fever for the last 12 hours. His temperature came down, but not to the normal temperature. He was given only Paracetamol liquid solution three times.
Please suggest.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
For fever, you can give Paracetamol syrup every six hours (1.5 teaspoons of 120 mg per 0.17 fluid ounce solution).
If the temperature is more than 100, then you can also sponge the baby with normal water in between. I advise you to visit a child specialist if,
- The fever is of high grade and does not come down.
- The child is irritable, lethargic, and refusing feeds
- The child has any other symptoms, like cough or loose stools.
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you need any help.
Thank you
