Are fever and red spots on the body signs of scarlet fever?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 49-year-old female. I have red spots all over my body. I have pain in the thigh and back.

I have had a fever for the past two days. I have pain behind my ears with a headache. I am unable to eat my food. Also, I have a slight cough and slight swelling on my face.

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is most likely a viral fever. It is better to get a complete blood count done to be on the safer side.

I suggest you the following -

  1. Have plenty of fluids and take rest.
  2. Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, or any other NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or painkillers.
  3. You can take Paracetamol three tablets a day for a fever.

I hope this helps you.

Take care.
