Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 73 years old and have been hospitalized thrice for high fever, shivering, and trouble passing urine. Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Yash Kathuria

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

This urinary tract infection due to prostate enlargement leads to the above symptoms. That is more likely to cause a rise in creatinine levels due to infection. The creatinine is likely decreasing because of hydration and antibiotics that the treating doctor might have prescribed. So, there is no need to worry; the culture report may come back negative, but that does not mean it is not a urine infection. The only thing to monitor is the urine output creatinine level. Continue with hydration with good water intake and antibiotics to tackle the disease. Creatinine levels would be normal if the kidneys were not already chronically damaged.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
