Hi doctor,

My daughter is 4 years 6 months old and had vomiting and fever from yesterday morning. Vomit and leg and hand are paining. If she has some food, she vomits. What is the reason? Please advice. No loose stools, not eating for past two days.

It can be food poisoning. Please use the below medications.

The Probable causes

Food poisoning, viral fever, urinary tract infection.

Investigations to be done

If persists, do urine routine and microscopy.

Treatment plan

1. Syrup Crocin DS (Paracetamol) (5 ml/250 mg) 5 ml if fever greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit every 4 to 6 hours. Sponging with lukewarm water till the fever decreases to 99 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Syrup Meftal P (Mefenamic acid) 5 ml if fever is not decreasing with Crocin. 3. Syrup Ondem (Ondansetron) (5 ml/2 mg) 5 ml three times a day, half an hour before food for two days. 4. Tablet Junior Lanzol (Lansoprazole) 15 mg one tablet mix in 5 ml water and give daily in the morning half an hour before breakfast for five days. 5. Start antibiotic. Syrup Taxim O Forte (Cefixime) (5 ml/100 mg) 5 ml two times a day for five days. Give ORS 4.2 mg one sachet mix in 200 ml water and give 3 to 4 sachets per day.

Preventive measures

Watch for urine output, give plenty of fluids and bland soft diet.
