Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is 10 months old and he has the flu. He has a persistent cough and his breathing is not pleasing. What can I do?

Hi,

I appreciate you signing up on icliniq.

You now have exclusive access to expert medical opinion. Few things you can do to help him feel better:

  1. Make sure your son stays hydrated by offering him plenty of fluids such as breast milk, formula, or water. If he is having trouble drinking, you may want to try giving him smaller amounts more frequently.
  2. Use a cool mist humidifier in your son's room to help moisten the air and soothe his cough.
  3. Elevate your son's head while he sleeps to help him breathe more easily.
  4. Use saline drops or spray to help loosen mucus in your son's nose and make it easier for him to breathe.
  5. Use a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator to suction mucus from your son's nose if necessary.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
