What are these freckle-like spots on my nose and cheeks?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old female. On my nose and some parts of the cheeks, there are freckle-kind of spots which I thought was alright to have. But, now I noticed that it is increasing from the last few years.

  1. What are these?
  2. Are these pigmentations or freckles?
  3. Can it be removed totally?
  4. What products will be effective against it and how much time will it take to show effects?

It is a very young age to get these sort of stuff. So, I am worried. Please help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Find the attachment below. Kindly explain in detail about what it is, why it happens, and what should be done next.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the clinical photographs sent by you (attachment removed to protect patient identity). These are freckles. They appear commonly in fair-skinned individuals or persons who are exposed to sunlight a lot. Do you apply sunscreen daily?

If not, then I suggest you to consider doing so, because photo-protection is the basic treatment. Apply suncreen (La shield or Suncros tint sunscreen) daily in the morning. I also suggest applying Golite cream at bedtime (very little amount should be applied). It is a depigmenting cream.

For better results, visit a dermatologist so that a procedure like Glycolic acid 20 % chemical peel can be considered. You should apply this at home.

Thank you.
