Would anxiety or indigestion medications cause urinary urgency, abdominal pain, low urine output, and blood in the urine?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have the urge to pass urine a lot these days, and there is a mild pain sometimes in my abdomen as well, either on the right or left side. Today morning I saw a drop of blood with my regular vaginal discharge in my urine. This has been going on for two or three days now, but there is no pain while passing urine until I have been holding it in for unusually long. Sometimes when I pass urine, there is a small amount, but it still feels like I need to pass urine. I was taking some pills for indigestion and general anxiety, which I had to stop.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. However, I have a few questions. Since when do you have these symptoms? Do you have any burning sensation during urination? Have you had any fever in these past few days when you have had these symptoms? Have you had any history of urinary tract infections before? Are you sexually active? The symptoms you have fit with the description of a urinary tract infection. Although you have not had a fever, it must be mild. So I suggest you undergo a urine analysis to confirm my suspicion first. If the symptoms are troublesome, I suggest you take some urinary antispasmodic. Also, I suggest you visit a local urologist for a detailed clinical exam and confirmation.

I hope this was helpful.

Kindly follow up with the answers.
