Is there any chance of cancer if my urine gets stuck or trapped after urination?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 25 years old. For the last four years, I have been facing frequent urination problems. I went to the urologist he told me to do a urine culture and sensitivity and urine microscopy test, but at that time test was normal, and my blood test was also normal. But the problem continued, so again I visited a urologist. My problem increased as I had constipation, and while urinating, 90 percent of urine comes out from the penis, whereas 30 to 20 percent of urine gets stuck. Hence, the doctor did a cystoscopy and told you might have chronic cystitis, gave me a tablet, and told me that the problem would be resolved within three months, but my pain continued again after three months. I have recently visited another hospital and underwent the following tests: kidney function test panel, urine microscopy, urine aerobic bacterial culture and sensitivity, ultrasound kyn with prostate with PVRU, and uroflowmetry PVRU, but all results are normal. But I did not receive any solution to my problem yet. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Can you please upload your X-ray picture? Have you started tablet Alfoo 10 mg (Alfuzosin 10 mg)? If yes, is there any relief after taking medicine? Do you have any burning sensation while urination? Please answer these questions so that I can guide you better.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your reply. I do not have a burning sensation always. I took RGU and MCU tests four years back, but at that time, my urine was not getting stuck or trapped after urination. Is there any chance of cancer? I also did masturbation. Is masturbation related to this? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

After seeing your RGU (retrograde urethrogram) and MCU (micturating cysto-urethrogram) (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity), I suggest that your bladder neck might not be opened correctly. Still, you need not worry as it should help in this condition. If you have already tried tablet Alfoo 10 mg (Alfuzosin 10 mg) and there are no satisfactory results, I suggest you start tablet Roliflo OD 2 mg (Tamsulosin 0.2 mg and Tolterodine 2 mg) once a day for two weeks. We will get back after two weeks to see the response.

I hope this helps.
