What is the reason for burning micturition and cloudy urine?

Hello doctor,

I had a runny nose, cough, and fever two months back. Then, I started having a burning sensation while urinating. It was more prominent during the morning and not much during the daytime. I got tested for a urinary tract infection, but the results came negative as I was prescribed antibiotics before the test. I also got myself tested for vaginal thrush; however, the results came negative as I was already using medications. Canesten cream helped a bit for thrush. I tested COVID-19 positive on the second day after starting antibiotics; therefore, it has been almost a month since I last visited my doctor.

Also, I had spotting between my periods two to three weeks back. I have had bad constipation and abdominal pain since I started using antibiotics and got COVID-19. I realized that the spotting was because of my bowel movements. I also had a very heavy vaginal discharge that was watery and did not smell foul. My first urine in the morning smells strong and looks cloudy. However, it clears up during the day. I have also got tested for STIs, and all the results are negative. However, the burning sensation during urination is still bothering me.

I understand your concern.

Firstly, I suggest you drink plenty of water, at least two and a half to three liters, as drinking less water makes the urine concentrated and can lead to infection and burning micturition. Secondly, pass urine frequently and do not hold it for long.

I suggest you use syrup Citralka (Disodium Hydrogen Citrate), two teaspoons twice daily for three days, and tablet Flavoxate 200 mg twice daily for three days for your urinary complaints.

I suggest the below treatment plan for vaginal infection:

Tab Fluconazole 150 mg single dose after a meal.
Tab Secnidazole 1 gm, two tablets to be taken as a single dose after dinner.
Always keep the area dry as moisture increases the chances of infection.
Always wipe the area with tissue paper after going to the washroom and wear cotton undergarments.
Capsule Vizylac (probiotic) twice daily for seven days.

Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her, and start the medicines with their consent.
