Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 16-year-old female and have consulted a doctor for vaginal problems last week. I was diagnosed with genital herpes after visual examination. Although I was not engaged in sexual activity before, I have been prescribed Acyclovir. Previously I had yeast infections and used Canestan thrush cream. I have read up about the symptoms of herpes, and mine are completely different. I have blister-like sores in the area with yellow discharge. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello.

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

It is understandable to have concerns and questions about a diagnosis, especially if the symptoms you are experiencing do not match what you have read about genital herpes. Genital herpes is usually characterized by painful blisters or sores in the genital area, which can be accompanied by itching, tingling, or a burning sensation. However, symptoms can vary from person to person, and it is possible to have different symptoms than what is commonly described. A yellow discharge may not be a typical symptom of genital herpes, but it is possible to have secondary infections or other conditions that can cause changes in discharge.

I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  1. Get a swab culture test from discharge for confirmation of diagnosis.
  2. Get tested for any VRDL(Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratories) infection, and get a swab test for the pus.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
