Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have noticed some black spots near my penis that have been there for some time. I have also attached the images for your reference. What can be the cause of these black spots? Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern and would be happy to help. I have seen the attachments shared by you (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). They are genital warts caused by HPV (human papillomavirus) infection and spread by sexual route. They can be treated by heat or chemical cautery. As warts are sexually transmitted, I suggest you get yourself tested for other sexually transmitted conditions, like HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis, and Genital Herpes. Also, HPV takes a few months to show symptoms. The other condition caused by HPV and transmitted by sex is Bowenoid papulosis, which can be considered a differential diagnosis in your case. I hope this helps. Do revert in case of further questions. Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your response. The last time I had protective intercourse was two and a half years ago. I got my STD test done one and a half years back, which was negative. After that, I never had intercourse. The black moles have been present for two to three years. I do not have pain, itching, or a burning sensation. Please let me know if these are only warts or something more serious? Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I suggest you get the STD (sexually transmitted diseases) tests done again and get them removed by cautery at a dermatologist's office. I hope this helps. Do revert in case of further questions. Take care.
