Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have pain in the gums and lower teeth. I previously had receding gums and a dental infection. I also note some redness at the base of the tongue. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I read your query and also saw the image (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) that you sent. You said that you have pain in the gums and teeth, and also redness at the base of the tongue. The causes of gum pain are as follows:
1. Improper oral hygiene can lead to gum problems and gum recession.
2. Badly decayed teeth (as seen in the image).
Because of these, you have an infection in the gums and redness. You have to visit the dentist for full mouth rehabilitation, which means you have to do the following:
1. Radiograph of all teeth.
2. Detection of caries.
3. Check for tooth mobility.
Treatment plan:
Visit the dentist for a full mouth cleaning. Maintain proper oral hygiene by doing the following:
1. Brushing twice with a soft toothbrush.
2. Use Chlorhexidine mouthwash twice a day after brushing.
3. You can use Metrogyl (Metronidazole) gel to massage the gums.
For pain, take the tablet Ketorol DT (Ketorolac) twice a day for three days, a capsule of Amoxicillin 500 mg two times a day for three days, and an antacid before meals, like tablet Pan-D (Pantoprazole) two times a day for three days.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
