Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 22-year-old female suffering from extreme hair fall and white hair. I am a student, and I do not get time to oil my hair. Also, I wash my hair every alternate day, and I am worried about losing my hair due to severe hair fall. In addition, I also have dandruff. What to do? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. Multiple factors cause premature greying of hair and hair loss. It occurs most commonly due to genetic factors where one of your parents and their blood relatives have premature greying. FPHL (female pattern hair loss) is most likely genetically transmitted. Other reasons include vitamin deficiencies, zinc and iron deficiencies, dandruff issues, climatic factors, hormonal imbalances, dietary changes, and lifestyle factors, including using commercial oils, shampoos, hair smoothening or straightening products, and due to frequent coloring of hair with strong chemical products. In the case of genetic factors, the chances of reversing grey hair are not possible. Natural coloring agents like henna may be used to conceal them in case of social insecurities. On the other hand, the other factors may be managed after blood investigations to rule out vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and appropriate medications can be given. However, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below. Take tablet Keraglo Eva (nutritional supplement) once daily after food for two months at night. Use Egascalp hair tonic (anti-hair fall hair tonic) on your scalp. Apply and massage twice daily after cleaning and drying your scalp well. Please undergo blood tests like CBC (complete blood count), serum ferritin, serum iron, serum zinc, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, and thyroid function tests. These blood tests will help rule out any deficiencies following which the medications can be started. The blood tests should be taken before beginning the medications mentioned above since they may cause changes in the results. Avoid using hair dyes and chemical products for changing hair texture. Make sure to have a balanced diet, including fruits and green vegetables. PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) mesotherapy procedures for the scalp where plasma rich in platelets would be extracted from a small amount of blood drawn from your vein and injected superficially into your scalp every 15 days to one month and done in six sessions. For the procedure, consultation with a dermatologist is advised. It will help with hair growth and reduce hair fall. Mesotherapy is the injection of vitamins done similar to PRP treatments. KZ (Ketoconazole and Zinc Pyrithione) plus lotion to be applied twice a week every three days. Use it by diluting it in water, apply and massage for one minute and leave for three to five minutes before washing it off. Make sure to keep the scalp devoid of dandruff and dryness with consistent use. Kindly review the results and follow up after seven days. I hope this helped you out.
