Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am facing hair fall issues from the past month, and the situation is worsening. Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq, and thank you for choosing us as your provider for health care.

I have gone through all your details and appreciate your concern.

Hair fall can occur due to various reasons, including genetic susceptibility, prior infections (such as chickenpox, COVID, dengue), minor or major surgeries, stress, sleep irregularities, previous hair treatments, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and exposure to hard water. My advice is as follows:

  1. Use any good brand anti-hair fall shampoo by mixing four drops of the shampoo in one-third cup of lukewarm water (use a cup typically used for bathing). Apply the mixture only to the scalp, massage for one minute, leave it on for three to five minutes, and then rinse. Use it once a week.
  2. Oil massage: Massage your scalp with a combination of lukewarm coconut oil, castor oil, and the oil from a vitamin E capsule (by breaking it open) in a ratio of 3:2:1. Leave it on for one hour and wash it off completely using the shampoo mentioned above. After shampooing, use any brand of conditioner on your hair strands to keep your hair smooth.
  3. Tablet Keraglo Eva (a combination of multivitamins, multi-minerals, and natural extracts): Consume this multivitamin tablet daily after dinner for two months to promote hair growth.
  4. Mix one tablespoon of protein supplement in one glass of skimmed milk or water, and consume it after breakfast daily for two months to encourage hair growth.
  5. Apply 0.034 ounces (1 ml) of any good brand anti-hair fall serum serum to your entire scalp from the front to the crown area (avoid the back of the scalp). Massage it into the scalp every night for 8 to 12 months.
  6. Blood tests: Obtain blood tests for serum vitamin D3, serum vitamin B12, serum ferritin, and thyroid profile to investigate and identify any deficiencies. If deficiencies are identified, supplements can be initiated as necessary.
  7. Early morning sun exposure: Spend 15 minutes in the sun on alternate days between 7 am to 8 am to promote vitamin D synthesis, which can enhance hair growth.
  8. Maintain a healthy diet: Consume foods rich in proteins (such as egg whites, soya chunks, sprouted moong dal, quinoa), fruits, vegetables, and drink at least 85 ounces of water daily.
  9. Stress management and regularizing your sleep pattern are essential. Avoid using hair styling creams, products, or appliances that may contribute to hair problems.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.
