Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 27 years old and female. I am experiencing this bizarre thing on my skin where little hair follicles develop—scarring all over the legs and hands. It is becoming more prominent daily, and the pores are getting bigger. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Your descriptions show you have ingrown hairs, which may be confirmed by sending a few photos. Shaving, waxing, and tweezing undesirable face and body hair are the most prevalent causes of ingrown hairs. Removing hair and leaving its sharp tip near the skin surface makes it more likely to grow sideways or coil back into the hair follicle and become caught under the skin surface, causing irritation and inflammation. Treatment for ingrown hairs varies; occasionally, the ingrown hair may cure independently without any treatment. You can apply steroid cream to your skin once a day. Inflammation will be reduced after one to two weeks of use. You may also use Retino-A 0.025% (Tretinoin) for local application at night for the same length to dislodge keratin and allow ingrown hairs to fall out. Consult your doctor, speak with them, and use the medication with their permission. After two weeks, review for further management.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
