Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with significant hair loss over the last 6 to 7 months. It has been quite sudden and I have tried numerous haircare products without any success. Can you please explain to me what might be causing this sudden and severe hair loss? I'm also desperate to know about any effective treatment plans to stop or slow down this hair loss. It's affecting my confidence and I really want to find a solution.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hope you are doing well.

I have gone through the details provided from your end and I do understand your concern.

Hair fall or hair loss is mostly due to multiple factors including:

1. Genetic susceptibility wherein any of your family members have increased chances of hair thinning and hair fall.

2. Due to hormonal fluctuations which cause the roots of hair follicles to become weaker and fall off.

3. Due to any vitamin deficiencies like vitamin D3, and vitamin B12 and mineral deficiencies like iron deficiency.

4. Other causes are due to hairstyle products, due to the presence of dandruff, due to stress, and due to sleeplessness.

5. Major causes of hair fall can also be seen due to any underlying medical conditions like thyroid or other medical conditions that lead to hair fall.

6. Due to intake of any medications which cause the roots to become weak.

7. Any history of fever, COVID infection, chickenpox, and minor or major surgeries can also contribute to hair fall.

My advice :

1. PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) injection: This is a treatment that is done at a hair clinic. In this procedure about 10 to 12 ml of your blood would be taken in a test tube, it would be put in a centrifugal machine, and spun. After spinning your blood secretes platelets which are growth factors that are then injected into your scalp using a very small insulin solution. This is usually done once a month for 6 months which means a total of six sessions. This procedure helps in enhancing hair growth and strengthening hair roots. Kindly consider this procedure since you have been trying multiple products and have not seen results

2. Anti-hair fall serum: Apply the serum in the morning on a clean dry scalp, massage it into the scalp leave it throughout the day, and wash it off in the evening. Make sure to use it at least for 1 year.

3. Minoxidil finasteride (vasodilator) 5 % solution: Use one ml quantity of this solution at night on a clean dry scalp, massage into the scalp, leave overnight, and wash it off in the morning. Make sure to not abruptly stop its usage as it has side effects of hair fall if suddenly stopped. However, when used properly it has great results. Make sure to use it every day for at least for 2 years, after 2 years reduce it to 6 days per week for the next 6 months and then 5 days per week for the next 6 months, and so on till it has been gradually stopped.

4. Take a tablet of Follihair (multivitamin) daily after dinner for 3 months.

5. Use biotin gummies for 3 months.

6. Oil massage once a week on the scalp is very important. Make sure to use a combination of coconut oil in three parts, two parts of castor oil and one part of vitamin E capsule oil, and apply on the scalp, massage for 5 minutes keep on for 1 hour, and wash off using the shampoo.

7. Continuous stimulation of the scalp through these methods will help in enhancing hair growth. Stress management is very important.

Hope this helps.

Stay happy, healthy, and safe.

Take care.

Thanks and regards.
