Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 17-year-old, and I am experiencing hair loss. Whenever I swirl my hand in my hair, a few of my hair is on my fingers, as in the case while combing. What should I do? I have no medical illness. Can you suggest some good shampoo?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You have developed male pattern hair loss. I want to explain about hair fall. 75 to 100 hair fall every day is very normal. So, hair loss should be considered only if the number of hair fall is more than this. Straightening and other procedures also cause weakness of the root. Other conditions like fever, typhoid, malaria, thyroid, etc., can also cause hair fall, but these are less common. In males, most of the cases are of androgenic alopecia. With your condition, you can use 5 % Minoxidil lotion with Finasteride 1 ml local application twice daily. Minoxidil is relatively safe and must be used continuously for maximum benefit. Otherwise, you may continue it for as long as you desire medical treatment for your hair fall.

Also, take vitamin supplements like tab Xtraglo (Biotin, Copper. Iron, Selenium, Zinc, L-Cysteine, L-Lysine, and Methionine) once daily for six months. Get a review after one month.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
