Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old male, experiencing a lot of hair fall since last month. I almost lose 50 hairs a day. Whenever I rub my hand over the head, I find at least two to three hairs. Earlier they were not falling like this. When I observe the fallen hair, I can see a very small white head at the end. It is falling from its roots. No one is bald in both paternal and maternal families. My hair has become thinner. I am totally tense. Please help me.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. A normal individual loses up to 100 hairs per day which gets replaced and every year about 10 percent of hair is lost. Hairfall could be due to stress, inadequate diet, anemia, dandruff, thyroid abnormalities, or after a bout of illness. Additionally, if you have a receding hairline it could be androgenic alopecia. If you have stress I would suggest you practice yoga and breathing techniques for relaxation. Also, check if you have dandruff and use a Ketoconazole-based shampoo if so. You can continue the vitamin B tablets, it will take a minimum of three months to see the effects. If the problem persists do visit a dermatologist to assess the type of hair loss.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
