Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been facing bad breath and mouth odor issues for many years. However, my oral hygiene is good, and I am using mouthwash, but the effect of mouthwash does not last even for an hour. Kindly tell me the exact treatment to get rid of bad breath.

Answered by Dr. Alfiya K Jamal

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Bad mouth odor (halitosis) is caused by food deposits, plaque, tartar (calculus), etc. The food deposit forms a thin film that is easily removable, but when it is calcified, it is very difficult to remove by simple brushing. Therefore, I suggest you do ultrasonic scaling by a dentist nearby. I can help you by guiding you with proper brushing techniques and oral prophylaxis methods in the follow-up.

The Probable causes

Poor oral hygiene.

Differential diagnosis

Periodontitis.

Probable diagnosis

Chronic generalized gingivitis.

Preventive measures

Maintaining proper oral hygiene.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
