Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I can feel my heartbeats in my stomach, and it feels like my heart is beating there. I have had this issue for more than a few years, but I am feeling it more intensely now, which makes me nervous. During this issue, my stomach becomes bigger and more bloated. Please do not suggest that I see a doctor; I need a way to reduce the heartbeat sensation I feel in my stomach.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Firstly, I assume you do not have any other symptoms, such as shortness of breath or chest pain. It would be worthwhile to have yourself examined by a local doctor to rule out structural heart disease, although that seems less likely. You should avoid a fatty, oily, and spicy diet. Try to take a walk after eating instead of resting. Maintain regular sleep habits and manage your stress levels. Avoid smoking and alcohol, if applicable.
You should consider getting a prescription for the tablet Pantoprazole and Domperidone or the Esomeprazole-Domperidone combination, to be taken before breakfast once a day for two weeks. Additionally, you might need a prescription for the tablets Etizolam and Propranolol at bedtime for two weeks, but only if your heart rate is at least 65 beats per minute. This medication may cause slight sedation.
Please consult your specialist doctor to discuss this and start taking the medications with their consent. Also, try to divert your mind to other activities and avoid overthinking to reduce anxiety and nervousness. Remember, the sensation of your heartbeat does not necessarily indicate a disease; it can be felt normally as well.
I hope this helps, and feel free to reach out if you have any doubts.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your answer.
So, is it normal to feel a heartbeat in your stomach, and is pulsation visible? I was afraid it might be an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and I read that it is possible for the aorta to rupture, which could be fatal. How can we determine if it is an AAA or just normal stomach pulsation? I drink a lot of alcohol every week and have been smoking for a few years now. Are there any natural remedies I can use to lower my stress and anxiety, as well as my heart rate when I feel afraid and nervous? Every time I get anxious, my heart seems to pulsate strongly in my stomach.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Firstly, yes, it is normal to feel and see pulsations in the upper abdomen. You may want to get an ultrasound of the abdomen to alleviate your concerns. For your anxiety, you can take the medication I mentioned, or naturally, you should practice meditation and yoga, which will help relieve it. Additionally, gradually tapering off smoking is important, as it can contribute to mental health issues.
Thank you.
