Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was diagnosed with H. pylori about 1.5 years ago and underwent a 14-day triple therapy, which was effective at that time. However, I recently tested positive again, and the prescribed treatment is the same triple therapy with bismuth. Unfortunately, due to numerous side effects, I could not complete more than seven days of the treatment. In an attempt to manage the situation, I am considering incorporating probiotics and natural remedies to alleviate symptoms until I feel healthier and ready to undergo another round of treatment. Currently, I am not taking any medication except for a multivitamin. In the past, I have used an HP kit and an HP kit with bismuth for the same issue. Relevant tests include a biopsy. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice on how to proceed. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

Regarding your H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori) situation:

  1. Please share how the recent diagnosis of H. pylori was made. Was it through a blood test, stool test, breath test, or a biopsy during endoscopy?

  2. If you had difficulty tolerating the therapy, there is no rush; it can be reconsidered after a few weeks. Treatment for H. pylori does not require immediate urgency.

  3. It is crucial to understand the basis for the retreatment. Blood antibody testing for H. pylori may not be the most reliable method for confirming reinfection.

  4. I suggest you consider adding yogurt to your diet as a natural source of probiotics.

  5. I suggest you explore commercially available probiotics like Enterogermina ampules (it contains around two million spores of Bacillus clausii), Ecotec (Lactobacillus acidophilus 50 mg, Bifidobacterium 14 mg, Streptococcus thermophilus 34 mg, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp bulgaricus 28 mg), or Gutcare sachet (Clostridium butyricum and Bifidobacterium). Please choose any of these and take it once daily for two to three weeks. Afterward, if H. pylori is accurately diagnosed, appropriate antibiotic treatment can be reconsidered.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I was diagnosed with endoscopy and biopsy. Can I take probiotics for two to three months before starting another treatment? My body needs time, and I am dealing with stress and anxiety, which exercise helps calm down.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I suggest you use probiotics for an extended period, and the treatment for H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori) can be considered later. Also, avoid stress (the body's response to any demand or challenge, often involving physical, mental, or emotional strain).

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you
