Can non-itchy small bumps on the penis occur due to herpes simplex?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old male. About one and a half weeks ago, I started getting small bumps all over my penis but not on the testicles. The bumps are non-itchy and I have pain during palpation. A physician I visited said, herpes simplex was a possibility. I find it very hard to believe that this is possible because I had only two sexual partners. One was over a year ago and she had one sexual partner by that time. My most recent partner with whom I have been active for nearly six months has only ever been with me. Is it possible to have picked up herpes from either of them? And if it would be from the first person, how could it pop up just now, about after a year of having sex with her?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I have gone through your complaints as well as reviewed the attached photograph (theattachment was removed to protect the patient’s identity). It seems to be a herpes infection. It is possible that you could have contracted the infection from either of the partners. It is possible that you might have got the infection from the first partner one year back, but it was subclinical and did not manifest with the lesions. Herpes can get activated at any time and can present with lesions.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you for consulting me.
