Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My 12-month-old baby girl got high platelets in her anemia blood test. Her hemoglobin and WBC are normal, and her platelets were 1170. After three days, we made a test again and got the result 960. What can I do now? Baby is fine. No unusual symptoms. Sometimes, she gets a cold and a fever, but that is normal, I guess.
Is there anything to worry about?
Kindly assist.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and can understand your concerns.
Your child's liver, spleen, and lymph nodes should be palpated to check for any enlargement, if present. Thrombocytosis is usually considered reactive when decreasing with time. Your child's platelet reduces in three days, so mostly it will be reactive secondary to a high platelet count for which no specific treatment is needed. But you need to repeat your child's CBC again after one week. If after one week it remains high, then you should consult a hematologist or pediatrician for a detailed evaluation, in my opinion.
I hope it helps.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
