Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have excess red blood cells in my body. Recently, I had blood checkup, and it was 16.9% as per the report. Kindly advice to reduce it. I am 27 years old. I have little chest pain too when I squeeze my chest with a pressure through shoulders.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is not very much elevated, but borderline and not a matter of worry. Do you smoke? If yes, then needs to stop it. Do you have any breathing difficulties? For reducing excess red blood cells, we need to find out the cause for it like smoking and needs to stop if any. It also occurs in patients with heart or lung disease, but it is not in your case. The pain which you mentioned here is not related to the heart. If no cause is found, then the only way is to remove the blood or donate it periodically. In order to prevent the harmful effects of it, you should drink plenty of water daily.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
