Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 34-year-old female. When I took a blood test for my allergic cough, I came to know that my absolute eosinophil count is 1500 cells per microliter of blood, so is there any problem getting pregnant. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

High eosinophil count itself will not cause any issue in pregnancy. But medications to treat it might affect your baby. Also most commonly the cause of high eosinophil count is an infection which may get transmitted to your baby as well. so before you plan pregnancy it is necessary to treat the cause of high eosinophil count.

Now since you mentioned cough, I have a suspicion that you are suffering from bronchial asthma. I may be wrong as the correct diagnosis requires physical examination and X-ray of chest. I would suggest you to take this treatment which will help you to control the cause of high eosinophil count.

1. Chewable tablet Bandy 400 mg (Albendazole 400 mg), for three days.

2. Tablet Hetrazen 100 mg (Diethylcarbamazine 100 mg) twice daily for 21 days.

Make sure you are not pregnant before you take these medications as these medicines are contraindicated in pregnancy.

Hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Regards.
