Patient's Query

Hello,

I am currently experiencing acne, especially on my forehead, nose, and jawline. Some of them are quite itchy. I am using Cetaphil daily scrub cleanser and Benzac spots treatment at the moment. I have previously used Doxycycline and Tretinoin gel 0.05 percent. I used to take Doxycycline around two years ago but stopped using it based on my dermatologist's advice. Now, my acne has returned. They seem persistent and often leave behind dark acne marks. I hope you can provide me with some assistance.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have regular periods. I sleep for at least eight hours a day. Regarding my diet, I consume healthy food and avoid oily and sugary foods as much as possible. I have added ascorbic acid and zinc as supplements. I lead a home-based lifestyle and I am single, with no history of thyroid disease.

Hi,

Glad to have you back!

I am here to help you get the best medical advice.

I understand your concern.

These acne appear to be hormonal acne. There could be an underlying imbalance even if your periods are regular. Have you undergone any recent blood tests? Do you have any allergies to medication? I would like to recommend some blood tests to rule out hormonal imbalances. For topical treatment:

  1. Peroduo gel (a combination of Adapalene and benzoyl peroxide): Apply a very small quantity daily at night on your face for one month.
  2. Nadoxin (Nadifloxacin) gel: Apply twice daily on pimples for one month.
  3. Tracnil powder (myo-inositol, cholecalciferol and folic acid): Drink twice daily for one month.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.

Thank you.
