Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a female. I have some swelling on my private part. There is no irritation, but swelling has been present since a week. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I have gone through your query and can understand your health concern. Swelling in the private parts could be due to either infection or fluid retention. If the swelling is associated with itching, redness or burning, then it is due to infection. If only swelling is visible then it is due to fluid retention as a result of hormones. Sometimes, at the end of menstrual cycle due to hormonal effect there is swelling over the body, which does not need any treatment and subsides after menstruation. If it is due to infection then it needs treatment. If it is associated with itching and redness then you should consult a gynecologist as proper examination is needed. Maintain proper hygiene. Keep the private parts clean. You can use Lactacyd lotion (combination of Phenoxyethanol and Lactic acid) twice daily for cleaning private parts.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
