Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 37-year-old female. I have had headache from last two years. It keeps fluctuating between minor to severe. I have hypothyroidism, I am on tablet Thyroxine 125 mg for two days and tablet Thyroxine 100 mg for five days. My body temperature keeps fluctuating at an interval of ten minutes. This condition continues to go on for the whole day. For a month, I got pain in my knee, the doctor said gap is less between knee bone, a cracking sound comes while standing and sitting. I have hormonal fluctuations and mood changes. I feel that the nerves of my brain will blast, feel like screaming and crying. When I want to control my condition my left hand starts to pain. I am worried about my condition as I have three children to look after. Please help me out.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern, I am very sorry about your health condition. You may be suffering from chronic headaches probably tension or migranes, with hypothyroidism and osteoarthritis of knee. First of all, you will have to take a rest for a few days from work. I advise you to do yoga and meditation, avoid spicy and stored food, and get your blood pressure and blood sugar levels tested regularly. Supply of Calcium and Magnesium with Vitamin D may give relief from stress. It is beneficial to eat green leafy vegetables and fruits.

I suggest you tablet Naproxen 250 mg twice a day after food for headache, and Chondroitin sulfate with Glycosaminoglycan in supplements or tablet form. Do avoid cabbage and cauliflower for the sake of thyroid as they are potential goitrogens.

I suggest you to get the following tests done -

CT (computed tomography) of brain, ECG (echocardiography), RBS (random blood sugar), thyroid profile, hemoglobin, and blood sugar levels.

Take care.
