Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have an appointment to remove my wisdom teeth in two months, but one of the teeth is now hurting my cheek when I eat. The gum around the tooth is red and sore. Should I call them for an appoinment immediately? Or wait till the next two months.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The wisdom teeth will erupt partially or remain completely impacted (in the wrong place and position). So it has to be extracted. The wisdom teeth which is in the wrong place may injure the tongue or cheek mucosa. It is normal, and there is no need to worry about it. I will suggest Dentogel (Choline Salicylate, Benzalkonium Chloride, and Lidocaine Hydrochloride) ointment three times a day for three days. You can apply it for five minutes and wash it off. Avoid eating with the ointment. The redness will subside gradually. If it does not subside within five days, I suggest you visit a dentist and trim the wisdom teeth. In case the pain has subsided, then there is no need to trim the wisdom teeth. You can go for the removal of impacted teeth during your appointment that you have already got after two months.

Regards.
