What could be the reason for a frequent urge to pass stools?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife, around 40 years old, has anterior abdominal pain. She has the urge to pass stool most of the time. She says it is a band-like pain stretching from left to right. She had constipation a couple of days ago. Now stool is normal. She had a similar issue a couple of months ago but then had diarrhea. She was given tablet Oflox TZ and tablet Sporlac-DS, and that issue was cured. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. This looks like an intestine infection. I would suggest the same medication for three days, and for pain, I would suggest tablet Cyclopam (Dicyclomine and Paracetamol). Also, ask her to avoid oily and spicy food and intake more liquids.

Thank you.
