Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My partner has kissing disease, and her symptoms include a high fever, neck pain, and other symptoms. She is in the hospital now, resting, and I wonder when I can be with her without having a fear of acquiring this infection. I have read that the virus will remain in her mouth for at least six months. Is this correct? Please advice.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Here I am giving you my suggestion for your case. Kissing can spread infectious mononucleosis and EBV (Epstein-Barr virus) respiratory infection. So, until she recovers symptomatically, avoid sexual contact such as kissing. If you have a fever and a sore throat, see a doctor for an examination and lymph node palpation. If it is suspected, a peripheral smear examination and a serological test should be performed to rule it out. Please feel free to reach out here if you have any doubts. I hope this will help you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
