Patient's Query
Hello,
I had an ingrown toenail removed yesterday. I just wanted to get a check-up on how it looks today, the doctor that did it gave me no information on how long to keep it wrapped? Or for how many days? And did not do a pretty job of removing the toenail.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
I suggest you follow these guidelines-
1. You should change the dressing on alternate days for a week.
2. Proper dressing should be done with all precautions.
3. You must use sterile gloves.
4. You can clean the wound with Betadine (Povidone-Iodine solution) before dressing. Along with it, antibiotics are required for better healing.
5. You should not leave it open. If you leave it open, then there are chances of infection. So while having a bath, cover it, so it does not get wet.
Did your doctor prescribe antibiotics?
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello,
The doctor did not give me any antibiotics. Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
It would be best if you took antibiotics for better healing.
1. I would suggest you apply ointment Soframycin (Framycetin) twice a day on it.
2. You can take tablet Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate) 625 mg twice a day after meal for five days.
Let me know the condition after five days.
Thank you.
