Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

It seems that I have intestinal parasites. Even after the use of some broad-spectrum medications, it has not subsided. Furthermore, when I do testing at any clinic, it comes back with a negative result.

What should I do?

Would you please give your opinion?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You seem to be having chronic amoebiasis. I suggest you take a complete course of Metrogyl (Metronidazole), antacid, diet restrictions, and Diclofenac for severe pain. It will take time for your symptoms to sudside.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your answer.

There are few more questions. Would amoebiasis not show up on stool tests? (I do not know why they could not detect them on the tests). Do Metronidazole at a dosage of 800 mg three times per day for ten days is enough for treatment? Is further treatment required after Metronidazole? I can handle the pain and inflammation without the need for medications.

Have you dealt with this issue personally?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Amoebiasis is not detected on a routine stool test; a particular test called Entamoeba histolytica antibody test is done for amoebiasis. Yes, it is curable in the course of Metrogyl (Metronidazole) mentioned by you for 15 days will do. Yes, I do have treated patients with such diseases. Try to eat more raw garlic, vegetables like pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, and beetroot. Avoid carbohydrates and juices.

Take care.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks again for responding.

It seems that I can take the tablet Tinidazole (Tindamax or Fasigyn) 2 g for five days to cure this disease. Should I take this for longer than five days? Maybe seven? Would I need further drugs to kill off the cysts in the intestines? It seems that Metronidazole or Tinidazole cannot kill these cysts.

Thank you so much for your insights.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can take the tablet Tindamax 2 gm (Tinidazole) once a day for three days only. Do not take it for more than three days. When on medicine, abstain from alcohol and have strict diet control. Avoid fast food and non-vegetarian food.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
