Hello doctor,
I am having irregular periods. I did not have my periods in the last five months. After consulting the doctor, I took my blood test and in the report, my hemoglobin percentage is normal but in my thyroid hormones test there is a point mentioned that there is a physiological rise in T3 and T4 hormone levels that is usually seen in pregnancy. I am unmarried and have never engaged in sexual activities. I am worried if that means I am pregnant. Please help me out.
Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand your concern. I have gone through the report. Your levels of T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine) hormone and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) are in the normal range. There is no increase in the levels. The reference given in the bottom is a general disclaimer for doctors and patients to understand if there is a rise, then it can be due to pregnancy. This is not just printed in your test alone, it is a general statement printed in all the reports. Levels of thyroid hormones in itself does not predict pregnancy. There are many other causes of missed period like stress, diet change, exercise, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or hormonal imbalance. This has to be diagnosed. Hope this was helpful.
