Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Yesterday morning, I woke up, and after having breakfast, I had nausea, then I went for a bath and vomited. I felt irritable and vomited the whole day. Today again, I did not have breakfast, I just had tea, and again vomited. I took the tablet Domstal. I felt nauseous twice or thrice today. I already took the tablet Paxidep CR 37.5 at night and Thyronorm 100 mcg in the morning. I get burps, nausea, and cramps in the stomach, and even a little mucus in the throat too.

Would you please suggest what to do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the description of your symptoms, I can make out that you are suffering from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). This is very easy to treat. You will need two weeks of treatment. I would suggest the following:

1) An antibiotic called Rifaximin, with probiotics like Vizylac Rich (probiotic-prebiotic and immunobiotic capsule) twice daily, antispasmodic like Normaxin MB (Mebeverine hydrochloride) one tablet twice daily and a brain relaxing drug called as Placida (Flupentixol and Melitracencida) one tablet twice daily.

2) For nausea and vomiting, you can take tablet Perinorm 10 mg (Metoclopramide) as and when required.

3) Follow FODMAP (fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols) diet. You will have to modify your diet. You can find details regarding this on the internet.

The vomiting and nausea you are experiencing are called psychogenic vomiting. It can be easily controlled with the medications I have mentioned. Once you start your treatment, you will notice improvement of symptoms in three to four days. However, I want to ensure that you do not have any infection. To rule out the infection, I would like to know whether you have any loose motions or fever or jaundice, or anorexia (loss of appetite). If any of these symptoms are present, management will be different from what I mentioned.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
