Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My 9-year-old son has gotten a large white bump on the inside of his bottom lip that he is complaining is very itchy. No pain; it is just itchy. It happens every couple of months. Kindly give your opinion.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
As per the information provided and looking at the picture (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), there is a solitary rough area on the inner side of the lower lip. You also mentioned that it recurs every couple of months. Before jumping to a conclusion and answering, please provide more information.
1) How long does it remain once it appears?
2) Does it appear at the same location every time?
3) When it appears - to start with, does he get paid?
4) Is it only one such lesion, or are there multiple in the mouth?
5) Once it subsides, is there any residual lesion that you can see, or is it completely gone?
6) Does he has any eating difficulty?
Please share another picture showing teeth along with the lesion.
The way it is looking, most probably, is recurrent trauma due to his teeth. It happens during eating when you accidentally bite on the lip.
Another possibility is a recurrent fungal infection, or it can be recurrent ulcer formation which can be due to oral hygiene or may be due to B-complex vitamin deficiency. These are the other possibilities, but looking at the picture, it is not classically of any such cause.
Once I receive other information, I will advise you accordingly. At present, just apply Oral Glycerin gel.
I hope this was helpful.
