Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I pierced my earlobes two years back. Now, there are two hard bumps formed inside my earlobes exactly where I have my piercing. Sometimes, it gets flared up and becomes bigger. Sometimes, I have some blood coming from it. It remains painful when I wear my earrings when I do not have a flare-up. It takes around two weeks to calm down. Now, I have decided to close these holes. How to make these bumps go away? Can I be able to re-pierce at the same spot? What is the probability of getting bumps again?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. If you are having inflammation and redness, then you can take oral antibiotics to subside your inflammation. Another possibility to rule out in this case is a keloid formation. It is an uncontrolled growth of scar formation. If you are sure that your bumps are getting bigger or if you have a history of keloid formation from scars, then you can take intralesional steroid injections after getting it examined by a dermatologist. You can have two possibilities such as infection and keloid formation.
