Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Do I need to consult a doctor for having a keloid on my cartilage due to over-piercing? Before few days, my ears got swollen by piercing them. It hurts a lot.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

A keloid develops due to overpiercing of the cartilaginous area of the ear. It takes around two months to form in the pierced region and they are painless. You have developed swelling due to contact dermatitis and so your area is inflamed and tender. You can follow this treatment. You can take tablet Ciplox 750 mg (Ciprofloxacin) two times a day after food for a week. This is an antibiotic and it can cause loose motions, If you have loose motions, you can take probiotics two times a day for a week. You can take tablet Zerodol P (Aceclofenac with Paracetamol) two times a day after food for a week, tablet Ultracet (Paracetamol or Acetaminophen with Tramadol) one tablet at night after food for a week. Take tablet Pan-D (Pantoprazole) one tablet once in the morning before breakfast for a week. Keep your ear dry and refrain from using earbuds. Apply Soframycin ointment (Framycetin) on the affected region to prevent having an infection.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
