Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Can COVID pneumonia occur months after COVID treatment? I had a persistent cough and mucus discharge. After an X-ray, it is said that I have a heavy growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae, and there is hyperinflation of the lungs on the chest X-ray. Will it reverse back to normal with treatment?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) occurs during the acute episode of the infection and subsides afterward as the disease wanes. You seem to have Klebsiella pneumonia, which can be treated under a physician's supervision with antibiotics (based on biological fluid culture and sensitivity or empirically since the pathogen is diagnosed). In addition, I suggest you take antipyretics for fever and antiinflammatory drugs for lung inflammation. However, it would be ideal to discuss and suggest further if you could share your test reports and medical records for better judgment.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
