Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was playing basketball and when I jumped my knee popped. Now the back of my knee hurts. Do you think it is just a PCL injury?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It can either be an ACL or meniscal injury. You need to take the following tablets:

  1. Take tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily for 10 days after food.
  2. Take tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily for 10 days before food.
  3. Take a tablet of Shelcal CT (calcium) 500 mg twice daily for 30 days before food.
  4. Tablet vitamin D (60k) once daily for 10 days, then once a month for 11 months.
  5. Take these tablets only if you are not allergic to them.
  6. Do not take these tablets if you have a known case of bronchial asthma. Follow up immediately in case of any reactions.
  7. Activities that cause pain should be avoided temporarily.

Activities should be avoided until knee pain and swelling resolve:

  1. Squatting.
  2. Kneeling.
  3. Twisting and pivoting.
  4. Jogging.
  5. Aerobics, or dancing.
  6. Playing sport.
  7. You should wear a hinged knee brace for support to the knee joint. Wear it all day and you can remove it at night.
  8. Apply ice packs twice daily for 15 minutes each.
  9. X-rays and MRI are needed if the pain does not settle down in 2 weeks.

I hope it helps.
