Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 22-year-old male. For the last week, I have been having pain in different regions around the patella of my left leg while moving on uneven surfaces. Short knee pain while walking, stiffness, and a crunching sound from joints burning sensation in the joints. After two days, a slight pain slowly spread to many joints of the left side body, like the shoulder, elbow, ankle, wrists, neck, etc. I consulted a local orthopedist. He diagnosed calcium deficiency and prescribed me vitamin D3 for eight weeks (one per week).
Can I know what the underlying disease caused me?
Any advice.
Please help me.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
What you are most probably undergoing is called chondromalacia of the patella, where the cartilage of the patella is undergoing degeneration. And yes, you are showing symptoms of polyarthralgia, which are most likely due to calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency. I would suggest additional cartilage-enhancing drugs and a high-fibre diet in addition to calcium and vitamin D3 supplements. Adding a routine exercise program for all joints is a very good thing.
I hope I have explained to you to the best of my knowledge.
Thank you.
