Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a biopsy done on a lump on the scrotum because cryotherapy did not completely get rid of it. The biopsy came back as a leiomyoma positive for desmin and SMA. I would like to know if after cryotherapy it could tell if it was a scar or a leiomyoma? I am worried it had been a genital wart prior to cryotherapy. The doctor also suspected jt may have been a wart before he did the biopsy.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the histopathology report, it is clear that the lesion was a leiomyoma. It is a benign condition. There are no features suggesting warts in histopathology. So you need not worry about warts. Leiomyoma is a rare benign condition occurring in the scrotal area. Consult your doctor for further management if needed post-excision. Firstly it is rare and renal abnormalities are rarely associated with this condition. It would be better to please keep a check on renal function.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

If it were a wart would it still state that there are cells from a wart after cryotherapy? Would this show on the biopsy? Is it a clear difference between a wart or scar and leiyoma?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The histopathology report does not mention anything related to warts and suggests that other features are normal. They would have suggested if they had seen anything related to the wart. So do not worry about warts. Further immunostaining has been done to confirm leiomyoma. So it further goes with leiomyoma.

Thank you.
