Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 26-year-old male. On Monday night, I trimmed my pubic hair and while doing so, I felt a nick while trimming the bottom left side of my penis. After that, I shaved with a razor. On Tuesday morning, I noticed a bump and thought it might have been from the nick, but now I am starting to think it might be a wart. I need an expert's opinion as soon as possible.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query. From your description, the issue seems to be verruca plana or seborrhoeic keratosis. I suggest you go for cryotherapy. Until then, do not use a razor for shaving, as it might cause it to spread.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have been extremely depressed because of it. So, do you rule out the STI or genital warts or is it the same thing?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is a harmless infection and nothing serious. It is verruca plana. Your condition needs to be differentiated from syphilis, vestibular papillomatosis, molluscum contagiosum, seborrhoeic keratosis, Fordyce spots, and lichen planus. If there is a history of unprotected sexual exposure, check for HIV-1, ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), and p24 assay. Get it done after a minimum of three months from the last exposure. Get an excisional biopsy done by a dermatologist for confirmation. If it is negative, ignore the tests. Start Zitcare (pure Zinc) tablets thrice daily after food. This will improve your immunity against the virus. Start using Podophyllotoxin (0.5 % lotion or 0.15 % cream). Protect the adjacent normal skin with petroleum jelly. Apply only on the target with a wart bud. Wait for a couple of hours, then pat it dry with a wet cotton. Continue this procedure twice a week before consulting a dermatologist for a physical examination.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you so much for all your knowledge and information. It definitely puts my mind at ease. I have suffered from finger and hand warts while younger but got them removed with treatment. Am I more susceptible to infection? Another important question, is it highly contagious and should I refrain from sexual activity until it clears? Also the treatments you told me about, can I find them at my local health store?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is not contagious through skin to skin contact. Not everyone is susceptible to the HPV (human papilloma virus) virus. Genes play an important role in acquiring this type of warts. You are genetically susceptible to this infection. Take tablet Zitcare thrice daily as discussed earlier, to boost up your immunity. It is advisable to restrain from sexual activities until you completely get rid of this virus. It is a type of STI (sexually transmitted infection). Cryotherapy is the best treatment option when compared to cautery or laser removal. So, I suggest you look specifically for a doctor who performs cryotherapy and consult him. There are many treatment options available against HPV viral infection.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
