Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 40-year-old female who was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was prescribed medicine for the same. I have a few concerns. Could you please explain how Synthroid works to regulate thyroid function and what I should expect in terms of symptom relief and not to forget the side effects? How will we track the effectiveness of this medication over time? Are there any dietary or lifestyle changes I should consider to support the medication's efficacy? I am concerned about my symptoms like hair loss, sweating badly, and feeling tired always. Now, the symptoms have reduced a lot, but I still have doubts about the medicine's effect and how it will last.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Synthroid (Levothyroxine sodium) is a thyroid hormone supplement. It is an artificial thyroid hormone. When your body is not producing a sufficient quantity of thyroid hormone, it is known as hypothyroidism. So we have to give from the outside.

I suggest you take this tablet daily before breakfast. Get regular thyroid check-ups done every six months.

Hope I have solved your query.

Thanks and regards.
