Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a girl. My periods have been scanty lately. They remain for a day or slightly more and are very light. So I got my ultrasound, and they said it was normal.
What should I do?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
You are in your late teens. In teenage cycles could be irregular, regular, ovulatory, or anovulatory.
It is better to take good care of yourself. Eat a healthy diet, walk daily, and maintain a normal BMI (basal metabolic index) and weight. Do recreational activities but quit recreational drugs. Go for a complete checkup for yourself.
Go for blood tests on the second day of periods (testosterone serum insulin, serum prolactin, serum progesterone, FSH (follicular stimulating hormone), and LH (luteinizing hormone), and thyroid function test). Collect results and discuss them here.
Eat less salt, sugar, oil, and spice in your diet. Also, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables with lots of water.
If you want to take medicine to support periods, take cyclic combined oral contraceptive pills for three months, then quit to see a difference.
Thank you.
